About Appetizing Muse
Appetizing Muse is a "foody" blog companion to Food Fare, originally launched in 2003. The blog contains posts relating to cooking, food and recipes along with press releases about cookbooks from Food Fare.
Shenanchie O'Toole is the sole contributor to Appetizing Muse, although guest posts are featured on occasion.
Food Fare contains recipes from a variety of countries and cultures around the world. The site also includes a collection of personal recipes, many of them "comfort foods" inherited through the generations, as well as twelve e-cookbooks and more than forty titles in the exclusive Culinary Collection.
More About Shenanchie
Shenanchie O'Toole is the owner, creator and webmaster of Food Fare, and the sole writer of all articles, newsletters and content.
She is chief-editor of the Breakfast Cookbook, Community Garden Cookbook, Food Fare Cookbook, Furry Friends Cookbook, Global Seafood Cookbook, Luscious Leftovers Cookbook, Quirky Snacks Cookbook, Recipes-on-a-Budget Cookbook and Soups & Stews Cookbook, and co-editor of Glinhaven Cookery, Larkin Community Cookbook and Ambrosia Cookbook, as well as author and editor of Food Fare's Culinary Collection and Food Articles.
People who know me well are often surprised to learn I write cookbooks and operate a recipe-related web site. While I do my fair share of cooking, I've never been one to be enthralled with the daily slog of trying to decide what to prepare for any given meal. I'm always looking for something different to adorn my dining table, not just simply run-of-the-mill meals to appease the unappreciative palates of others. Unlike many women of my generation, I don't find "kitchen duty" to be my natural area of responsibility and thus far have managed to avoid it like the plague (as my three former husbands would attest if they could). However, when it comes to improvising and experimenting with new recipes and cooking methods, I tend to throw myself into the mix. Food Fare cookbooks give me a place to put all of my little "experiments" and hopefully in the process allow others to give the recipes a whirl as well.
The Writing Life
Shenanchie also writes fiction novels under the literary pseudonyms Deborah O'Toole and Deidre Dalton.
Writing as Deborah O'Toole, she is author of Celtic Remnants, a novel of enduring yet impossible love and betrayal set in the turbulence of Ireland. She is also the author of Glinhaven, In the Shadow of the King, Mind Sweeper, and The Crypt Artist.
Also writing as Deborah O'Toole, she is author the Short Tales Collection (juvenile fiction short stories) and Torn Bits & Pieces, a book of darkly abstract poetry. In addition, she is the author of a series of Historical Essays, articles and book reviews for Class Notes and Ambermont Magazine.
Writing as Deidre Dalton, she is author of the Collective Obsessions Saga. The 8-book series chronicles the extraordinary loves and obsessions between two families sweeping a span of more than one-hundred-forty years, all set against the backdrop of a Gothic seaside mansion in Maine. Titles in the saga include The Advent, Quixotic Crossings, The Twain Shall Meet, Enthrallment, The Keeper's Journal, Hearts Desires, The Twilight and Megan's Legacy.
Also writing as Deidre Dalton, she is author of the Bloodline Trilogy, which follows the uniquely magical yet ominous journey of three women through time. Books in the trilogy include Bloodfrost, Bloodlust and Blood & Soul.
Shenanchie lives in the United States, where she continues to write and experiment with new dishes on a regular basis.
