Jackie Labrecque-Daigle

Food Fare Contributor: Jackie Labrecque (1936-2015)Jackie Daigle was a former recipe contributor to Food Fare. Sadly, she passed away in May 2015 after a brief illness.

Jackie Daigle was born Jacqueline Moncion in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. She had several brothers and sisters, but also considered her cousin Joyce O'Toole as close as a sister.

Jackie attended Catholic school in Timmins, later working at Bukavetsky's Department Store. She married Raymond Labrecque, and they had two children, Lynn and Rick (who are both deceased). Jackie was later widowed after her husband died in a mining accident.

Over the years, Jackie developed her own cooking style and created several original recipes. She especially liked baking, and perfected the well-known Pastry Pie Crust. She also liked to prepare savory dishes, including her tomato sauce specialty which is available at Food Fare.

The proud grandmother of four and great-grandmother of several, Jackie lived in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario with her second husband, Leonard Daigle many years prior to her death.

Jackie's obituary appeared in The Standard newspaper in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada:
