Spicy Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs
3 large cans tomatoes (crushed)
1 medium can tomato paste
2 onions, chopped fine
2 cloves garlic, chopped fine
1 TBS dried parsley
1 TBS dried basil
1 TBS dried mint
1 TBS salt
1 TBS black pepper
Pinch of chili powder
1/4 C Parmesan cheese
1/4 C olive oil
2 TBS sugar
1 empty tomato can, filled with water
Combine all of the ingredients into a large pot, making sure to crush the tomatoes once out of the can. Stir well, and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for four hours, stirring occasionally. Pour over spaghetti, or use with lasagna.
Meat Balls:
1 LB hamburger
1 LB ground pork
2 eggs
Breadcrumbs
1 TBS dried parsley
1 TBS dried basil
1 TBS dried mint
1 TBS salt
1 TBS black pepper
Pinch of chili powder
Mix all of the ingredients in a large bowl. Shape mixture into walnut-sized balls using breadcrumbs as needed so meat is pliable and easy to shape. Fry meat balls in a skillet until browned and fully cooked; add to spaghetti sauce as desired.
