6 C self-rising flour
1 C fresh bread crumbs
1 TBS. each of parsley, chives & garlic pepper
1/4 C shortening
1 egg, beaten
Broth or water
Salt & black pepper to taste
Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Add shortening and the eggs. Mix well. Divide dough into small pieces (the size of a golf ball or larger), and roll into rounds between your hands. Cook in boiling water or broth (the best is chicken broth), for about fifteen minutes. Add the dumplings to any stew you are making, just before the stew is finished cooking.
