Shortbread Shenanigans

This entry contains several images and may be slow to load for those of you stuck with dial-up Internet service.

In December 2004, I blogged about the knotwork shortbread pan I wanted from Gael Song in Seattle. Last week, I finally broke down and ordered the pan ($30).

I'm absolutely delighted with it. Rather than use my tried and true recipe for Irish shortbread, I made the version included in the recipe booklet that came with the pan. The cookies turned out well:

Before, during and after I also took some pictures of the pan and the making of shortbread thereof. Click on the photos to view their actual size in new window:

The Knotwork Shortbread Pan in it's box.    The Knotwork Shortbread Pan out of it's box.    Shortbread just out of the oven. The decorative side is face down and not viewable yet.

The shortbread baked and flipped over to show the decorative side.    The shortbread cut into slices and ready to eat.

I love the embedded design in the cookies. The pan is ceramic, and easy to clean. Now I'm tempted to order the Scottish Thistle shortbread pan as well – but they are out of stock until the end of the month.

If you feel so inclined, order a catalog from Gael Song and peruse the pages. They have a wide range of Celtic items for sale, all of them beautiful. Throughout the catalog, I wanted one or more things from every page.

Perchance to dream . . .
