Chazuke
Green Tea Rice, aka Ochazuke
1 C cooked leftover steamed rice (white or brown)
1 C brewed Japanese green tea
Assorted toppings (see below)
Dash of soy sauce (optional)
Place cooked rice into individual serving bowls; pour in hot green tea. Add assorted toppings according to preference (bamboo shoots, cooked eggs, dried seaweed, cooked poultry, savory seasonings, seafood, sesame seeds, tofu or vegetables). Season with a dash of soy sauce if desired; serve. Recipe makes two servings; can be eaten as a main meal or side dish.
Note: Toppings can be changed according to preference or seasonal availability of ingredients.
