Japanese Fried Rice
1 C cooked white rice
3/4 C cooked ham, cubed small
3 eggs, beaten
1/4 C frozen peas
Salt & black pepper to taste
MSG to taste (optional)*
1/4 C to 1/2 C soy sauce
Dash of teriyaki sauce
Pre-cook rice according to package directions; set aside. In a wok or nonstick skillet, pour in three well-beaten eggs. Stir in onions, ham, peas, salt, black pepper and MSG (optional). Cook over medium heat until the eggs are set, stirring constantly. Fold in the cooked rice; mix well. Add soy and teriyaki sauces; mix well. Cook, uncovered, stirring frequently, for about five to seven minutes. Serve.
*Note: The use of MSG is optional. Monosodium glutamate (also known as sodium glutamate and MSG), has been known to cause severe allergic reactions and should therefore be avoided. Using MSG as an ingredient in preparation of Chachan is done so at individual risk.
