Food Fare: Scottish RecipesHet Pint

Pour ale into a large saucepan, and add the nutmeg. Heat until almost boiling (but do not boil). Stir in the sugar until it dissolves. Beat eggs; add gradually to the ale mixture, stirring constantly to avoid curdling. Add whiskey, and heat again (but do not boil). Pour mixture from saucepan into heated ale tankards, back and forth, serving when the mixture appears clear and sparkling.

 

Note: Het Pint can also be made with white wine and brandy.
