Best of Surprises

Last Sunday brought a wonderful surprise!

My parents knocked on our front door, unannounced and unexpected. I was in total shock; I had no clue they were even on their way.

It's a sixteen-hour drive from their house to mine, but apparently my parents made the drive from their house to Coeur D'Alene by eight-thirty Sunday night. Coeur D'Alene is a half-hour away from where I live, and just a skiff over the border into Idaho. I must have been open-mouthed with astonishment upon seeing my mother because she was laughing fiendishly at having pulled one over on me (you see where I inherited my diabolic sense of humor). Foofer was beside himself and nearly knocked Dad over in his excitement.

We've had quite an array of food in the last few days: Japanese fare from our favorite restaurant (my parents loved it), pizza from Dominoes, and grilled steak and fresh corn-on-the-cob from our garden. My father is an expert griller (Wilbert has said my father's steaks are the best he's ever had). Tomorrow we're having my father's famous tacos. Hopefully, I can also introduce them to the Old European Breakfast House before they have to leave.

My parents are here until Friday, and I'm extremely happy at the moment. Needless to say, I may not be blogging too much over the next several days. I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do in order to update Food Fare, but all with good reason this time.
