3 TBS butter
1/2 pkg. bacon, diced
1/2 medium onion, peeled & diced
3 TBS minced garlic
1 head cabbage, cubed
1/2 C hearts of palm, diced (optional)
3/4 C beef broth
8 oz. tomato sauce
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Place butter into large cooking pot or Dutch oven at medium high heat. After butter melts, add diced bacon and onion. Sauté until the bacon is cooked and onions soften. Add garlic and cook for about one minute. Remove end of cabbage, slice in half, then into 1" cubes. Place in pot with hearts of palm and stir. Pour in broth and tomato sauce; stir. Add seasonings and stir again. Reduce heat to low and cook for about ten minutes, or until leaves soften. Cover pot and allow to stand for about five minutes. Serve.
