Rouladen
1-1/2 LBS flank steak
Prepared mustard to taste
1/2 LB thick-sliced bacon
2 onions, sliced
1 jar (16 oz.) dill pickle slices
2 TBS butter
2-1/2 C water
1 beef bouillon cube
Cut flank steak into thin filets (roughly 1/4-inch thick, 3-inches wide). Spread prepared mustard on each side of filets. Place sliced bacon, onions and pickles on each filet; form into a roll. Use toothpicks or string to secure rolls in place. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Place beef rolls in skillet and sauté until browned. Pour in water and add beef bouillon cube; stir to dissolve bouillon cube. Simmer rolls for about one hour. Serve.
