Social Explosion

Ever since I created the Facebook page for Food Fare in December 2009, the number of "friends" have remained at a comfortable level of 200 or so. However, since the middle of October or thereabouts, friend requests went through the roof. I had up to 300 per day for more than a week, after which is steadied out. I'm not sure what triggered the push for so many friend requests, but my list now hovers around 4,900.

In addition, when I posted an updated photo of myself, the likes and loves and comments were more than I'd ever seen before. Click on the image below to see larger size in a new window.

I'm not naive to think that all of the friend requests, likes and comments are because of my cooking skills or books. To be frank, there were quite a few "friends" I had to later block or delete because of inappropriate content sent through the Facebook Messenger application. I have also received more than one marriage proposal, and multiple declarations of love. But, for the most part, people have generally been decent when contacting me, asking me about recipes, cookbooks and all to do with Food Fare.

As I said, I'm not sure what triggered the explosion but I'm not complaining too much. It certainly makes every day interesting.
