Food Fare: Tea Time RecipesHalf-Pint Scones

Buy frozen pre-shaped bread dough (such as Rhodes); allow loaves to rise normally overnight. Once loaves have fully risen, gently combine them together in a bowl; allow to stand for another half-hour. Heat oil or margarine in an electric skillet. Take a handful of dough; gently stretch it lengthwise. Once the length is about 6 to 8 inches long, fold it over in half. Dredge one side of the dough in the hot oil, and then place the other side down in the skillet. Repeat with the remaining dough. Once one side has browned nicely, turn over with a spatula and brown the other side. Add more margarine if necessary. Serve scones hot with plenty of butter and preserves. Simply marvelous with tea!
