2 LBS lean hamburger
1 C soft breadcrumbs
1 onion, grated
2 C water
2 TBS lemon juice
1 egg
1/4 C flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Black pepper to taste
6 ginger cookies (snaps), crushed
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/4 C sugar
In a large bowl, mix the hamburger with egg, breadcrumbs, flour, onion, salt and black pepper. Shape the meat into balls. In a saucepan, combine crushed ginger cookies, beef cubes, sugar and lemon juice. Mix well; bring to a boil. Place meatballs into the bubbling sauce slowly; cook uncovered over low heat for about ten minutes. Turn the meatballs; spoon ginger sauce on top. Cook for another ten minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve warm.
