Detective Mark Balsam
Detective Mark Balsam of the Larkin City Police Department was the son of Jameson Balsam, former LCPD detective (1921-1979).
Mark investigated the murder of David Bonham at the Larkin family mansion, and he questioned Mike Sullivan extensively. He also helped Angie Page and Tom Cimarelli when they were researching the history of the Banshee Point lighthouse keeper, Colm Sullivan and also investigated the deaths of Marianne Chamberlain, Sara Sullivan and Carly O'Reilly Larkin.
Later, after he retired, Mark gave advice to Detective Lyle Gould during the case of the Larkin City serial killer.
Mark began working for LCPD in 1969, but then retired in 1996. He was widowed in 1993. He lived on Pine Whispers Road, one mile from the Larkin City Cemetery, with his three cats. Mark was tall and heavy set. His balding dirty blond hair was close cropped. He had intense brown eyes that were bloodshot from too many office hours and sleepless nights; his face rugged and lined with weariness.
Mark Balsam appears in The Twain Shall Meet, The Keepers Journal, Hearts Desires and Megan's Legacy.
*Author's Note: The physical appearance of Mark Balsam is based on American actor Pat Hingle. The image is not meant to be indicative of true personality traits of a real person, but rather a general idea of what I envisioned as the "outer shell" of a fictional character.
