From all my memories of various books through the years, from varying authors that I love in all sorts of genres, none have come close to the brilliance and writing skill of Tolkien. The man must have had one of the most fertile and ingenious minds of the previous several hundred years to achieve the perfection he attained in "The Hobbit."
