Egg Particulars

Posted Sun, 12/21/14

I rarely eat breakfast. I'm more of a one-meal-a-day person, usually consuming lunch around eleven-thirty in the morning. It satisfies me for the rest of the day, although on occasion I'll have a hot cup of tea with a toasted English muffin in the afternoon.

This morning I craved a real breakfast, so I set about preparing two hard-poached eggs, hash browns and sausage patties.

I'm very particular about my eggs. I cannot abide runny substances - the eggs have to be fully cooked or I won't touch them. I'm mainly put-off by the yolks, preferring the cooked whites overall. Seeing a runny yolk turns my stomach, frankly.

My tastes include scrambled eggs, omelets (particularly a Denver Omelet), hard-cooked eggs for salads, and poached eggs. The poaching runs overlong to completely cook the yolk, which is what I enjoyed this morning.

My aversion to eggs in general began in childhood. I can go months (sometimes even years) without eating eggs per say, but then I get the urge and go for it.
