Sausage, Veggies & Rice

I've been trying to avoid fixing a large meal since we are so close to Thanksgiving. We have a rather standard-sized refrigerator, and there is nothing more annoying than having the damned thing full when trying to store more leftovers.
But I was in a cooking mood today, so I took a summer sausage and sliced it, placing it on the top half of my steamer. I peeled and sliced a small onion, breaking it into rings and tossing it on top of the sausage. I made my usual amount of rice in the bottom part of the steamer (two cups), and then cooked broccoli flowerets and a cup of freshly-frozen peas in a separate container in the microwave.
After everything was cooked, I combined the rice with a bit of butter, and seasonings: paprika, vegetable flakes, parsley, garlic powder, salt and black pepper. I tossed the vegetables, sausage and onions with the rice and served the meal hot. The steam-effect of the sausage cooking over the rice also added a nice flavor with very little fat.
