Bring on the Treaters

Posted Thu, 10/30/03

I attempted to get ready for Halloween today. Since Wilbert works nights and sleeps during the day, Foofer and I took off early this morning to do a bit of shopping. I found the perfect pumpkin with a long stem at Bargain Giant, and the requisite pumpkin-face-lawn-and-leaf bags at Walgreens.

I'm a terrible artist, and a worse carver, but made the effort anyway. My Jack O'Lantern has a rather twisted grin, and his eyes are lopsided. I managed to fill two of the lawn-and-leaf bags after a few playful tussles with Foofer. They now sit in readiness on the front porch.

As usual, Wilbert bought too much candy (don't we all this time of year?). Since we only had about forty trick-or-treaters last year, I know we'll be left with plenty of nibbles.

The weather in my neighborhood has turned very cold, the wind making the chill biting. Tomorrow night's forecast calls for temperatures in the thirty-degree range, so I have a sneaking suspicion we won't be seeing as many kids as we did last year.

This will leave a forbidden bounty available to my diabetic husband. I'm sure I'll have to resort to hiding it about the house.
