Cloudy Day Barbeque
Posted Wed, 09/10/03
Wilbert and I barbequed for lunch today.
The day was cloudy and cool, a much better set of circumstances than hot sun beating down into the barbeque area.
I gathered up a collection of onions, green beans and corn-on-the-cob from our garden. That wasn't all, of course. We had pork ribs and steak from the grill, and I put together some red potatoes in mushrooms, onions and a smidge of white gravy. It was a literal feast, and by the time we finished doing the dishes together, we were both heavy-eyed from contentment.
It wasn't my intention to fall asleep, but as soon as I lay down (just for a "minute" I told myself), I zonked out for three hours.
I know it is not a good idea – going to bed on an empty stomach – but I don't make a habit of it.
