According to Amazon, the following Food Fare titles are ranked most popular in sales:
-
Medieval Cuisine (#13 in Cooking, Food & Wine)
-
Canadian Cuisine (#2 in Cooking, Food & Wine/Regional/International)
-
Russian Kitchen (#3 in Cooking, Food & Wine/European/International)
-
Polish Kuchina (#2 in Cooking, Food & Wine/European/Polish)
-
Scottish Vivers (#21 in Cooking, Food & Wine/English, Scottish & Welsh)
-
English Epicurean (#22 in Cooking, Food & Wine/English, Scottish & Welsh)
I'm not overly stunned by the ranking of Medieval Cuisine (consistent top-seller since its release last year), but the inclusion of Canadian Cuisine is a surprise. I can only assume someone - somewhere - is conducting a class on Canadian culture and my little book has become part of the curriculum. Researching and writing Canadian Cuisine some years ago was a labor of love for me as my mother is Canadian-born and raised. I had a great resource, obviously - right from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
One of the ego-boosting benefits gleaned from the Culinary Collection is the response I often receive from people who have read the various books, or plan to use them for educational purposes.
In particular, Medieval Cuisine has been used by college professors, students (several from Duke University), and catering event organizers as reference material and has been quoted verbatim by many medieval-themed web sites.
It makes the long hours of research and writing somehow worth it.
