Burger in Flames

Here's a recipe to contemplate on the fourth of July courtesy of McCormick:

Firecracker Burgers

1 LB lean ground beef

1/4 C finely chopped red onion

1 TBS parsley flakes

3/4 tsp. garlic salt

1/2 tsp. black pepper

1/4 tsp. white pepper

1/4 tsp. ground red pepper

2 bell peppers (red & green), seeded & cut in rings

Vegetable oil

4 slices Cheddar, Monterey Jack or American cheese

4 Kaiser Rolls or hamburger rolls

Lettuce

Mix together ground beef, onion and seasonings. Shape mixture into three or four burgers. Brush pepper rings with oil. Grill burgers and peppers over medium heat for eight to twelve minutes or until burgers are well-done (160-degrees F internal temperature), turning once. Add cheese on top of each burger for one minute before cooking is complete. Place on rolls. Top with pepper rings and lettuce. Serve.

Wilbert and I have plans to stay home and barbeque chicken, although I might throw a few of the fire burgers on the grill just for fun.
