We lay low on holidays. The last thing I want is to be tooling down the road with the rest of the hoards. We usually get what we need at the store early and then barbeque chicken or steaks at home. It's much more enjoyable, and definitely more peaceful.

We're always asked by friends and family to go out, but so far we've managed to get out of most of the gatherings. It's not that I dislike mingling with people; I simply despise the heat and the typically wild-behind-the-wheel drivers. A holiday weekend doesn't go by without some report of traffic fatalities.

I'm quite content being a homebody.
