Alfredo Pasta

Last night I made a spaghetti Alfredo that was out of this world. I'd wanted to make a pasta dish with something other than tomato sauce for awhile, and yesterday was the day. I sliced fresh carrots and zucchini and sautéed them with onions and canned button mushrooms. Excuse my slip here, but I used Alfredo sauce in the jar from Ragu.
While we were grocery shopping yesterday, I tried to find some sort of lean meat to add to the dish, finally settling on turkey ham. It tastes good, and is definitely less expensive than the real stuff. I cubed the meat and sautéed it as well. Since the sauce came from a jar, I warmed it in a pot and folded in the cooked spaghetti pasta. Then I added the sautéed ingredients and let it all warm together for about ten minutes, shaking in a bit of black pepper.
With the meal, we had garlic bread using thin-sliced and freshly baked Italian loaf, and a side of green beans. Maybe a bit of overkill with the vegetables, but if I didn't like meat so much I'd at second best be a vegetarian. Not a bad dinner all in all, and it only took about thirty minutes to throw together.
