Lunch Out Times Three

Since last week we have attempted to order in or have lunch out to "celebrate" Mother's Day. Because of my husband's work schedule, we can never seem to get it quite right on the actual day in question.

First, we bought fish and chips from Zip's Drive-In. They do have the best fish and chips in Spokane; hardly any residual "grease" that is often found at other places such as Skippers and Long John Silvers (which I find to have the "greasiest" food).

Next, we had home delivery from Kentucky Fried Chicken. Usually we are happy with the food from KFC, but this go-around the chicken was soggy with cooking oil. However, the biscuits and coleslaw were "perfecto."

Last but not least we went to the Old Country Buffet this afternoon. I'm an avid seafood lover, so I took portions of baked whitefish, shrimp and pasta, and "fish cakes." I also snuck in some Brussels sprouts and a small taco.

I had actually been anxious to try the famous Cathay Inn because I was craving Chinese food, but when I called around last Sunday they were only offering their dinner menu for Mother's Day. I was also put off by their pricing for one egg roll ($3). No single egg roll is that good.
