Worth Keeping

I've been swamped lately, forcing a backlog of Campbell's Kitchen recipes in my inbox. I eliminated many of them this morning, but the following was worth keeping:

Beef-on-a-Stick

Garlic-seasoned sirloin steak strips woven onto skewers and grilled with a basting of Pace Picante Sauce.

1 LB boneless beef sirloin steak, 3/4" thick

3/4 C Pace Picante Sauce

2 TBS vegetable oil

1 TBS lemon juice

1/4 tsp. garlic powder OR 1 clove garlic, minced

Chopped green onions

Slice beef into thin strips. Mix the Picante sauce, oil, lemon juice and garlic powder. Add beef and toss to coat. Thread beef accordion-style on twenty-four skewers. Grill or broil beef for ten minutes or until done, turning and brushing often with Picante sauce mixture. Discard remaining Picante sauce mixture. Garnish with green onions. Serve with additional Picante sauce. Makes 24.

The dish makes a tasty appetizer.
