Simply Cranky Fare

Very simple fare for dinner tonight:
I shaped super-lean hamburger shaped into thick patties, and then lightly coated them with pork-flavored Shake & Bake. I sautéed the patties in a skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Once the meat was done, I added a small can of button mushrooms and white gravy from packaged mix. On the side, I prepared a lettuce salad with chunks of red delicious apple, cubes of cheddar cheese and sliced pecans.
Wilbert's reaction? He thought the hamburger tasted like cardboard. I happened to like it, finding it tender and moist. Anything which remotely resembles "health" turns off my husband, despite his diabetes.
My response to his unhappiness was: "Then don't eat it and fix yourself something else. And next time you go to the store, get your fat-saturated hamburger and consume it on your own." He said nothing in return, but he did finish his dinner.
What a nice prelude to Mother's Day.
