This is an interesting bit about ready-made sandwiches in Britain:
For the most part, ready-made sandwiches in my part of the world are – for lack of a better word – crappy. There's lots of cheap lettuce filler but little else of substance.
I make one exception for the deli inside Dick's Market in Bountiful, Utah. Their bread is always fresh, and they fill it out with a lot of thin-sliced meats rather than gobs of lettuce.
I'm sure there are many more little markets across America that offers the same. I just haven't found them yet.
