Last Saturday, Wilbert and I found an exquisite set of hand-painted dishes, bowls and cups. He bought one bowl, and I opted for a coffee cup just so we could give it a try. One of the things I always look for when buying a coffee cup is if the china re-heats in the microwave without making the cup handle hot. I go through a lot of coffee in one day, and often end up re-heating more after the coffee pot has been switched off.

The new cup doesn't overheat, and I absolutely love the shape as well. It's sort of tallish, slender and oval all at once. The hand-painting is by an artist named Sorento, available through Fred Meyer stores. The coloring is tan, beige and green. The design depicts a bunch of purple grapes, an olive oil carafe, a large leaf and a jug of wine with a cork sealer. One cup costs about $4.95, but so far I think it has been well-worth the price.

I love collecting coffee cups and have managed to gather quit a few over the years, losing just as many every time I move.
