Henrietta Hen

A few weeks ago I ordered a new cover for my couch, and also added a Henrietta Hen Egg Cooker to my shopping cart. The order came yesterday, along with a free tumbler set.
Wilbert had a fender-bender this morning – in my damned car – so I felt sorry for his rough start to the day. I decided to cook him breakfast, which most of you know is unheard of in my house. I slow-boiled then fried a package of link sausages, and then poached four eggs in the new egg cooker.
The little appliance is adorable. The lid handle is a depiction of a hen head, and there are trays for poaching and cooking eggs soft or hard. When poaching is complete, the unit chirps until it's unplugged.
My husband loved the meal. For someone who loves eggs as much as he does, he claims to have never eaten them poached.
Next, I'm going to try hard-boiled eggs for potato salad this weekend.
*POSTSCRIPT 03/21/05: I made a batch of potato salad yesterday, using Henrietta Hen to cook the eggs. I used to hard-cook eggs by boiling them in water. I could never judge how long to boil them, so they ended up being over-cooked. The appliance does a splendid job: the eggs were perfect. It's all a matter of how many eggs to different water levels when using the cooker. Henrietta Hen is my favorite recent kitchen appliance.
