Good Guac

Better Homes & Gardens has a great selection of "new" cookbooks, ranging from the 1930's to the present day. I recently found a perfect yet simple recipe for Guacamole in the 1971 version, and to date it is the best variation I have prepared.
Good Guac
2 avocados
1 TBS grated onion
1 TBS lemon juice
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1/3 C mayonnaise
Mash two pitted and peeled avocados with a fork. Stir in grated onion, lemon juice, salt and chili powder. Spread mayonnaise over the mixture, sealing to edges of bowl; chill. At serving time, blend mayonnaise into mixture. Serve with corn chips, potato chip or crackers.
One of my ex-husbands was Hispanic. Among other cooking and preparation techniques, he showed me that by wedging the avocado pit back into the guacamole while not in use kept the mixture from turning brown. It works.
