Anniversary with Chinese

For our fourth wedding anniversary yesterday, my husband and I went to the nearby Top of China Buffet. The place is amazing. For just $5.99 per person, one can avail themselves of a 102-item buffet which includes mostly Chinese dishes, along with a few American standards such as meat loaf, mashed potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, chicken wings, etc.

However, we muddled through with the Chinese fare. I was impressed by all of it. The food was very well-prepared and tasty. Most of the dishes were kept hot by boiling water trays underneath serving platters, which also prevented the food from becoming dry. We gorged on Kung Pao chicken, fried rice, Chinese dumplings, won tons, spicy ribs, egg-foo-young and a house specialty that contained ground pork surrounded by a flaky pastry crust.

The service was beyond excellent. We left a large tip, something I rarely do nowadays. Our anniversary was the first time we went into Top of China Buffet, but it definitely won't be our last.
