Winter Sipping
Posted Mon, 01/12/04
During the winter months I run the gamut with hot drinks: lattes, hot chocolate, various teas (Chai, Russian, regular), espresso and endless cups of coffee flavored with Coffee Mate.
In the current issue of Bon Appétit Magazine (February 2004) an article titled "Hot Hot Toddies" has recipes for a nice variety of drinks typically offered at ski resorts. Called "Steam Team," beverages in the article include The Irish Slalom, Mexican Coffee, Candy Cane Cocoa, Rum Hot Toddy, Hot Apple Pie and Hot Buttered Rum.
Since I'm partial to most things Irish (being descended from the same) I've included the Irish Slalom below, directly from Bon Appétit Magazine:
The Irish Slalom
3 C hot freshly-brewed coffee
1/4 C Irish whiskey
3 TBS Bailey's Original Irish Cream
Sweetened whipped cream
Mix the coffee, whiskey and Bailey's into a four-cup measuring cup. Divide mixture into four mugs; top with whipped cream and serve.
The recipe first originated from the Sugarloaf Ski Resort in Maine.
