Mid-Week New Year
Posted Wed, 01/05/05
My husband missed celebrating New Years Eve because he worked, so he wanted to have a little celebration of his own today before heading back to the salt mine. Rather than a full-blown meal, we prepared a selection of appetizers to suit our fancies.
First, we bought all of the ingredients for my cousin Sheila's delectable creation known as Coppa Canapés. Wilbert then whipped-up a rather large batch of dill dip made with copious amounts of sour cream and mayonnaise. I set out a platter of peeled baby carrots, cauliflower and broccoli to go with the dip, and we also nibbled hungrily on the delicious canapés.
Wilbert drank cherry-flavored Kool-Aid of all things, while I sipped my favorite lemon iced tea. Later I made some Chai Latte, which seemed sensible as the temperature didn't get much above twenty degrees today.
We didn't just sit around and eat, as nice as that may have been. From eight this morning to four this afternoon, the Sci-Fy Channel broadcast a marathon of the new Outer Limits series. I'm not a big fan of science fiction, but I enjoy programs like Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone because they deal with more than creatures from the cosmos, which bores me to tears.
A fun time was had by my canine babies as well. Both Foofer and Rainee enjoyed several bites of Capicollo, and Rainee developed quite a liking for the baby carrots.
