Swiss-Style Green Beans
2 TBS onion, grated
6 TBS margarine
2 TBS sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. white pepper
1 pint sour cream
8 oz. Swiss cheese, grated
4 cans (16 oz. each) French-style green beans
1/2 C corn flakes, crushed
In a saucepan, sauté the onions in four tablespoons of butter; stir in the flour, sugar, salt and white pepper. Mix well; stir in the sour cream. Cook over medium heat until thick, stirring occasionally. Drain green beans and add to the sour cream mixture. Pour into a buttered casserole; top with Swiss cheese. Melt remaining butter in a small saucepan, and stir in the corn flakes. Spread over the top of the cheese. Bake at 350-degrees F for thirty to forty minutes. Recipe makes about ten servings.
