Water of Life

According to Irish Abroad, the Jameson Whiskey Company is "poised to break a major milestone." The article continued:

The spirit owned by the world's second-biggest drinks group Pernod Ricard is close to breaching the 2 million case sales mark.

Jameson currently has 13 per cent of the world's worldwide volume and is becoming increasingly popular in America where consumers are moving away from beers to spirits. If the trend continues over the next 12 months Jameson is one of the brands expected to see record sales as it is seen as a premium drink in the USA.

In relation to Irish whiskey, I wrote the following about Ireland in 2002:

It has been said Irish monks were responsible for bringing whiskey into Ireland. If the story is true, monks observed a perfume distillation technique in the Middle East and then brought the art back with them to Ireland. However, the clever monks soon invented their own version of distilling called the "Pot Still." They used the distillation device to create what is known as Uisce Beatha ("The Water of Life").
