Seasons Greetings

Christmas Noel from Food FareChristmas is one of the most celebrated occasions of the year. Like most people, there is a lifetime of memories to fill my thoughts every holiday season. It is comforting to have the enduring reminisces, which perhaps remind us of happier times.

Christmas is my second favorite holiday, after Halloween. The gathering of friends and family and collective feasting seems to go hand-in-hand during the holidays. For some, cooking is a dreaded drudge and merely to be endured, while others see the festive season as an opportunity to get creative in the kitchen.

Giving gifts which are the result of culinary endeavors are gifts from the heart. They are perhaps more meaningful than items purchased at a department store and then hastily wrapped. Taking the time and effort to be inventive in the kitchen and then offering the fruit of your labor to family and friends gets at the true meaning of the season.

Christmas Noel contains information about the history and origins of Christmas, Santa Claus, the North Pole, Christmas trees, mistletoe, traditions, global holiday greetings, gift-wrapping ideas, seasonal recipes from across the globe and links for further study.

Christmas Noel was written for entertainment purposes and expresses the sole opinions of the author. This article is not meant to be a professional chef's essay about Christmas, but rather an observation about the generalities of seasonal holiday food and culture from a home kitchen.

Merry Christmas from my house to yours . . .

Merry Christmas from Shenanchie!
