Salisbury Steak with Mushrooms
1-1/2 LBS ground beef
2 TBS onion, grated
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried marjoram leaves, crushed
1/8 tsp. black pepper
1 can (3 to 4 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained
2 TBS red wine (optional)
In a large bowl combine ground beef, grated onion, salt, marjoram, and black pepper; mix well. Divide meat into six portions; shape into oval patties about 3/4" thick. Broil Salisbury steak three inches from heat for three or four minutes; turn and broil other side for about four minutes, or until cooked to desired doneness. Prepare gravy mix according to package directions; stir in mushrooms and wine. Heat through. Pour gravy over steak patties and serve. Recipe makes enough for six servings.
