Written in Food

Because of my writing schedule and odd sleep hours of late, my food consumption has followed the same haphazard course. In the last two days, I've lived on coffee, Pepsi, an Australian biscuit and a handful of chicken nuggets, with a stir fry dinner thrown in last night. Not a healthy way to go about it, but the hours slip away and I often forget to eat a proper meal.

Coffee dulls hunger pangs that might remind me to eat, which is also unhealthy, but the java keeps me going for the most part – and besides, I love the taste.

The typical writer's state of mind and body are quirky bits of fluff, ingrained in the personality make-up of any given author. Often meshed with lack of sleep and proper nutrition, accompanied by a dazed and bewildered stare when asked the simplest of questions by a loved one, the writer frequently forgets on which planet they are roosting and which clothes they are wearing. This self-inflicted profession might not prove to be the best scenario for many, but I wouldn't change it for anything in the world!

The particular state of affairs should last until the end of the month, when I'll shift gears and gather my wits to prepare for the Food Fare update in October. Although I work part-time outside of the home (three days a week, five hours each), I put most of my energies into my own projects and writing.

Who said working for one's self was easy?
