Sour Cream Cheese Dip

While I was preparing different dishes for our dinner last Sunday, I also made dip for chips and vegetables.
It had been my intent to make a dip using sour cream with powdered Ranch dressing mix. However, once started I had a brain relapse. Surely the sour cream ingredient must be wrong – wasn't cream cheese used for the dip instead?
I couldn't decide, so I added a package of softened cream cheese to the sour cream. Of course the mixture was still lumpy. Using my hand mixer, I whipped the concoction until it had the consistency of a frosting. This included the Ranch dressing in powdered form.
Surprisingly, the dip was marvelous. My husband, and our guests Sheila and Joe, raved about the dip.
There's a bit to be said for experimentation.
