Arabic Cookery Update

Posted Mon, 07/08/13

Arabic Cookery has turned into a much bigger project than first anticipated.

In the beginning, my plan was to only include countries belonging to the League of Arab States (also known as the Arab League). However, the current league only contains twenty-two nations. I felt it unfair to leave out other countries in my culinary venture simply because they don't belong to the league or have been suspended for various - although legitimate - reasons.

Therefore, Arabic Cookery will include chapters about Algeria, Bahrain, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria (now suspended from the Arab League), Tunisia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Yemen. I'm still on the fence about including a chapter about Arabic food in Palestine. Knowing me, I'll probably wait and decide at the last minute.

That being said, the book is taking me longer than usual as I'm devoting entire chapters with recipes for each country represented. I've completed chapters up to Eritrea, and will be starting Iran in the next day or two. Needless to say, I still have a long way to go. I'm now anticipating an early autumn release of Arabic Cookery rather than a late-summer appearance in the Food Fare Culinary Collection.

Check back for updates...
