Lunch with My Babies

This afternoon I loaded my pooches Foofer and Rainee into the van, and we tooled down to my favorite Japanese restaurant (Kyoto Teriyaki) for some chicken teriyaki take out. Foofer knows the routine as he has been there many times before and can always smell the chicken long before I get it back in the vehicle, but the trip was a first for Rainee. However, as soon as I brought the food out to the van, both of my babies were wagging their tails and anxious to get home and have a taste.

My babies Rainee and Foofer (June 2004).

Foofer loves teriyaki chicken, but I was unsure if I should give Rainee any as she is only two months old. Once I was in the house and began chopping some of the chicken for Foofer, I couldn't resist the expectant look on Rainee's face. I gave her a small amount. She loved it, of course, and now I have a new convert to my favorite dish.

The Kyoto dish also comes with sticky white rice and steamed vegetables: broccoli, cabbage and thin strips of carrot. The restaurant never skimps on quantities, so I have enough left for another meal. I could eat teriyaki chicken every day if I had my druthers, and I much prefer plain white sticky rice over the flavored and doctored varieties.
