1 whole chicken
Salt & black pepper to taste
Butter
Remove innards from the chicken; rinse thoroughly under cold water and then pat-dry with a paper towel. Preheat oven to 400-degrees F. Melt butter in a baking dish. Season the chicken with salt and liberal amounts of black pepper. Place seasoned chicken in baking dish. Bake for about one hour, basting occasionally. Remove chicken from oven when skin is golden brown in color and meat is fully cooked. Serve.
Trivia Note: Hendl is a popular culinary item at beer garden food stalls throughout Germany.
