Score ham; press whole cloves into ham until evenly distributed. Place ham in a crock pot or slow cooker. Season the apple cider with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, ground cloves and vanilla. Pour in apple cider until two inches of ham appears above the surface. Pack brown sugar on top of ham, pressing into the cloves. Pour maple syrup over the ham. Add orange peel to the crock pot. Fill with apple cider without going over fill line. Cover and set cooking temperature to LOW. Cook for eight to ten hours. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
