Kasha Grechnevaya
Buckwheat Porridge
1 C whole buckwheat groats
Butter
1/2 tsp. salt
Water
Rinse groats under cold water. Place in a casserole dish; dot with pats of butter and sprinkle with salt. Pour enough boiling water into dish to coat groats; mix gently. Cover dish with aluminum foil. Bake at 350-degrees F for one to two hours or until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Steam cooking under the aluminum foil is essential; do not remove cover or stir during baking time.
Suggestion: Serve with milk and melted butter.
