1 LB cooking apples, peeled, cored & sliced
2 LBS potatoes, peeled
1 TBS sugar
2 oz. butter
Water
Salt (for boiling)
Peel the potatoes; cook in a pot of salted boiling water. Also core and slice apples. Place in a separate cooking pot with a tablespoon of water and the sugar. Cook until soft. When potatoes are cooked, drain and mash until smooth. Beat in the apples and butter. Eat as a side dish, or serve warm with bacon or fried fish.
